Last Wednesday, the Palo Alto Varsity Girls basketball team secured a very tight 32-29 win over Cupertino. This victory broke their two-game losing streak, where they took a 40-56 loss from Homestead and a 19-47 blowout loss from Gunn. This victory is just one of the many successes this team has achieved this season, marking a significant improvement from their 24-25 campaign, during which they went the entire season without a win.
This game against Cupertino was very exciting and was highly anticipated, as Paly lost to them last year, looking to get their revenge this year.
“The game was super exciting, all of us were making good plays or getting stops on defense. The atmosphere was intense, and the score was pretty back and forth all game,” junior Katie McCue said.
The game was very close and had Paly trailing in the dying seconds of the game, leading to them sending the game to overtime and winning out.
“When Abby sent us into overtime with a long three, we were all celebrating, and it was such an exciting moment. We then took a good lead during OT to finish the game,” junior Katie McCue said.
The Vikings now have a season with 9 wins and 5 losses. They hope to develop some momentum off this win and will face off against MacDonald on Friday and have upcoming league games against Silver Creek, Saratoga, Wilcox, and others.
