Paly Swim team lost to Leland High School in their meet on Saturday, ending off with a 102-88 loss. In a disappointing defeat in the Paly pool, the team was unable to send Leland packing during their second league meet of the season.
While the team was unable to earn a victory in the meet, it was an important set of performances from which the team was able to learn and grow. Despite the loss, Paly enjoyed positive performances from seniors Jack Spitzer and Felix Ryans.
“It was pretty neck and neck for the first half of the meet,” Spitzer said. “But in the second half, they ended up being able to take a lead that we couldn’t earn back.”
While the team was disappointed by the underwhelming result, Spitzer believes that the setback is a small step on the team’s overall trajectory, a negative that will likely not significantly mar their season.
“Obviously, we wanted to win,” Spitzer said. “But we had great team chemistry and were cheering each other on, and a bunch of people swam great times as well.”
Paly will next face Gunn away, where they hope to rebound and gain some momentum as they plunge deep into the regular season.
