The Palo Alto High School Volleyball Team was able to get an impressive on Senior Night against the St. Ignatius Wildcats, winning by the score of 3-1.

The Volleyball team celebrated the four graduating seniors this year, Sarah Limb, Keri Gee, Lauren Kerr and Becca Raffel.

The Vikings started the first match very well, jumping out to an early 8-1 lead. Kills by Becca Raffel (‘14) and Anna Dukovic (‘15) were key as the team never looked back and won the set 25-9.

“We started off really strong on defense.” Jade Schoenberger (‘15) said. “We were really missing that in our last game.”After a  falling behind 6-14 in the second set, the Vikings were able to rally all the way back and win the set 25-23, thanks to impressive spikes and kills by Jade Schoenberger. (‘15)

“Our desire really showed up in the second set.” Head coach David Winn said. “St. Ignatius was very scrappy but our tenacity really helped us.”

In the third set, the Vikings got off to another bad start, falling behind 9-14. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to pull it out, losing 25-21.

“Our consistency needs to get better.” Becca Raffel said. “We have been awful in the third set, especially in our last two games.”

In the fourth set, the Vikings were able to dominate, jumping out to a quick 10-4 lead and never looking back. Both Lauren Kerr (‘14) and Becca Raffel were able to record impressive spikes. For the Vikings, a win on senior night was huge.

“You always want to win on senior night.” Raffel said. “Last year we lost so we had a big chip on our shoulder tonight.”

Senior night is also important to the younger players as well.

“It’s really important to celebrate the seniors and all they’ve done this season.” Schoenberger said. “All four of them have had a huge impact on me and everyone else.”

The Vikings play the Mountain View Spartans this Thursday at Paly.
