The Varsity Boys Tennis team lost their first season match to the Gunn Titans 5-2 at home today.

The Vikings’ singles players fell short, only winning one out of the four singles matches.

Singles 1 competitor and captain Hunter North (‘18) lost in two sets, 6-0 and 6-1, and Antony Georgiadis (‘19), another singles competitor, lost in a close three sets.

The sole singles victory came from Matthew Ho (‘21), the Singles 4 player, who looks to make a name for himself as a valuable underclassmen on the team.

The Vikings’ doubles players were also disappointed, winning one out of three matches.

The sole doubles victory came from Nathan Ellisen (‘19) and Adam Love (‘19), playing together on the Doubles 1 team.

Despite this early loss in the Vikings’ season, the team remains positive.

Ellisen, one of the few victorious, sees the first match as a learning experience.

“This was a good first test for us. Now we know what to work on and how to improve,” Ellisen said.

The Boy Tennis team’s next game is against Homestead High School at home on Thursday, February 22.
