The Paly Boys and Girls Cross Country placed well in the SCVAL leagues first cluster meet Tuesday.

The boys team finished tied for first place among the 14 teams participating. The Vikings finished with a score of 81, tying with rival Los Altos.

The girls team finished in second with a score of 61, beaten solely by a 48 point outing from Monta Vista (the lower score signifying faster times).

In the boys 2-mile race, Donald Taggart (‘19) placed second across the 106 participants running the two mile with a time of 10:36.  Alex Evans (‘19) and John Tayeri (‘19) rounded out the top 15 for the Viking with 9th and 14th place finishes.

In the girls 2-mile, Ella Ball (‘20) finished in second with a time of 12:42 to help the Vikings towards the second place finish.  Hailey Waing (‘21) and Kai Douglas (‘20) finished in 4th and 6th respectively.

“Even without our top runner we were able to tie for first” Ian Matheson (‘20) said. “It’s a great step towards our main goal of winning CCS.”

Matheson finished in 39th in the 2-mile with a time of 11:35, aiding the boys towards their first place finish

Varsity runners will head to the Stanford invitational on Saturday for their next race, while all teams will go to Skyline Boulevard for a second SCVAL league meet next Tuesday.
